Caregiver thermometers are factory calibrated to standards as specified by ASTM standard E1965-1998 and normally require no adjustment by the user. For users with precision calibration equipment designed to calibrate infrared thermometers, it is possible to trim the calibration settings if they find it necessary to restore factory specifications.
